Independent insurance advice · British Columbia

The income triangle
Everything your family plans on — the mortgage, the schools, retirement — is funded by one thing: your income. It can stop three ways. Death is only the least likely of them.

Cancer, heart attack, stroke — a diagnosis pays you a tax-free lump sum to use however you need: private treatment, a year off work, a caregiver, the mortgage. MSP covers hospitals. It doesn't cover your life.
Replaces up to 60–85% of your income, month after month, if injury or illness stops you from working. For the self-employed and incorporated professionals of BC, this is the policy that protects all the others.
Before age 65, you are roughly three times more likely to be disabled for 90+ days than to die. Most households insure the death — and nothing else.

Comparison sites rank 30+ carriers by price and hand you a chatbot. We pre-vetted the market down to Canada's strongest insurers and give you a human who is accountable for the recommendation — at the same regulated price.
How it works
Use the calculator above. It's anonymous — we designed it that way on purpose. If the numbers make sense to you, take the next step.
We confirm your situation, compare live rates across our carriers, and tell you plainly what to buy — and what not to. No pressure, no follow-up drip campaign.
Applications are electronic. Depending on carrier, age and amount, many clients are approved without medical exams. Your rate is then locked for the full term.
Radical transparency
The industry hides how advisors get paid. We'd rather you know, because it's the best deal in personal finance.
Here's the whole model: insurance premiums in Canada are filed with regulators and standardized — a Sun Life policy costs the same through us, through a comparison website, or from Sun Life directly. The insurer pays us a standard commission out of their own margin when a policy is placed, and a small ongoing amount to service it. That commission is the same across the carriers we represent, which is why we have no reason to push one over another. Ask us on the call and we'll tell you the actual dollar figure on your policy. No one else in this market will do that.

Every calculator, article and recommendation on this site comes from one accountable person — not a call centre. Michelle works with families, self-employed professionals and business owners across BC, placing life, critical illness and disability coverage with Sun Life, Canada Life, Manulife and Blue Cross. When you call, you get the person whose name is on the licence.
Built for how BC actually earns
A BC mortgage is not a normal mortgage. Your coverage math is different here, and bank mortgage insurance is usually the wrong answer.
No group benefits means no safety net. Disability and critical illness aren't optional when you are the payroll.
Your business is your biggest asset and your biggest liability. Insurance is how partnerships and successions survive bad news.
Straight answers
Yes. Insurance rates in Canada are filed and regulated — the same policy from the same carrier costs the same everywhere. The only variable is whether advice, policy structure, and claim-time support come with it. Through us, they do, at no extra cost.
Often not. Carriers have modernized underwriting, and many applicants — depending on age, health and coverage amount — are approved on the application questions alone. Where an exam is required, it's a free nurse visit arranged around your schedule. We'll tell you what to expect before you apply.
Usually not. Group life is typically 1–2× salary — a fraction of what a BC mortgage and a decade of income require — and it disappears the day you leave the job, when you're older and possibly less healthy. Group plans are a supplement, not a plan.
Because in a market with regulated pricing, the long list is marketing, not value. Claims-paying strength, contract wording, and underwriting flexibility matter more than a $2/month spread on a tier-3 brand. We restrict our shelf to insurers we'd trust with our own families' claims — and we compare across them for every client.
Critical illness pays one tax-free lump sum on diagnosis of a covered condition — money you spend however you choose. Disability pays a monthly benefit for as long as you can't work, replacing your paycheque. They solve different problems, and serious plans usually include both.
You call us first. We prepare the claim, deal with the insurer, and push when pushing is needed. This is the part of the job comparison websites don't do — and the reason working with a person costs you nothing but is worth a great deal.
No chatbots. One advisor.
Bring the numbers from the calculator. We'll turn them into exact quotes from Sun Life, Canada Life, Manulife and Blue Cross — and tell you honestly if you don't need everything you think you do.
